BRING SOME TLC TO THE ORGANIZATIONS YOU LOVE!

Consider an organization that you are passionate about. It could be your company, your nonprofit, your faith community or even your family.

You know this organization is on the precipice of excellence. And, it’s a bit damaged in its post-pandemic transformation.

Perhaps... it needs a little TLC..(Thinking, Love and Compassion)

Let’s consider why…

Thinking

I recently listened to a podcast that suggested that this is THE moment to lead differently. When we #thinkdifferently, we are allowing ourselves to imagine our desired future.

As you wrestle and wrangle with the choices of a post-pandemic world consider this. How can being thoughtful and intentional in your leadership be transformational? This is the time to model the way, to challenge the process and of course to inspire a shared vision.

There are not just two ways to redefine the future of our organizations. It’s not about the nostalgia of the pre-pandemic. Or, the anxiety and uncertainty of what’s to come.

Your ability to #thinkdifferently during this time will take discipline, collaboration, creativity and trust.

Work hard at the skill of outsighting. Outsight is the ability to see and understand external things clearly. Outsight suggests you don't have all the answers internally.

Use outsight AND insight as leaders.

Love

I can hear you thinking what does love have to do with this (great song title, right?!) as something that's out of your comfort zone.

Being a #thinkgoodorganization, requires leaders to love their organization and its people.

We’ve entered one of the strangest hiring times in history.

“HELP WANTED” signs seem to be on every door. My clients are telling me that they feel like they are getting interviewed for the jobs they are hiring for.

We want our new hires to fall in love with us. We want them to love coming to work. We want them to love what they are doing. We want them to love us enough to stay committed and engaged.

McKinnsey & Co. discovered that “organizations with the biggest productivity increases during the pandemic supported and encouraged “small moments of engagement” among their employees, moments in which coaching, mentorship, idea sharing, and coworking take place. These organizations are preparing for hybrid working by training managers for remote leadership, by reimagining processes, and by rethinking how to help employees thrive in their roles.

Why? These leaders are sharing the love with their employees. They are supporting small connections and the building of communities.

So be intentional about creating opportunities for project sharing, networking, mentoring and coaching.

Compassion

The organization, Compassion.com, defines compassion as “the ability to recognize the suffering of others and then take action to help. "

Compassion embodies a tangible expression of love for those who are suffering”

Newsflash…COVID didn’t just create a health crisis. It created a mental health crisis.

We've all adjusted and pivoted during this crisis. I know that I’ve personally come through the other side of all this more anxious and more introverted (yes, I said that).

We can’t ignore the need for a more compassionate workplace.

But where do we begin? Let's start just by asking a few simple questions:

1) How are you?

2) Is there anything that I can personally do to support you during this time?

3) I care about you. I'd like your thoughts on building a healthier, more compassionate company moving forward.

BOOM!!!

I encourage you to get really intentional about how you are showing up for yourself and those around you.

Let’s work on delivering more TLC to each other and our workplaces.
