Realigning Vision and Values

In the next 10 days, I’m doing four presentations on Realigning Vision and Values. This is the most purpose driven work I do.

I’m not surprised that organizations are craving this type of reset these days. Never has the issue of alignment been more critical to the long-term health of companies and their people.

We are all reading the headlines on a daily basis...

Tips and Tricks for creating successful hybrid workplaces.

And we are all reading about the great divide. The fissure between those who want to work remotely and those who insist upon a full-blown return to the workplaces of the past.

This is a watershed moment for so many leaders. And as always, most executives are working through these concerns with good intent. We are both trying to survive and thrive in a post-pandemic environment.

The truth is that most employees are disconnected from their work. Employees are tired. Leaders are tired. And many have no idea what’s expected of them.

It’s time to do a reset.

And the reset can only happen when leaders are willing to realign values and vision. It is, in my opinion, the most critical work of a post-pandemic organization.

If you’ve worked with me at all as a leadership coach, you've heard me refer to the following Brenee Brown quote:

“Clear is kind. Unclear is unkind”.

Clarity begins with engaging people in the most fundamental questions of organizations:

1) What are our core operating values?

2) How do our values enable us to work together more compassionately?

3) How does knowing our "who" inform everything we do for our clients and our customers?

4) What actions do we need to take to be in alignment with our core values?

Now, for those of you with well-articulated mission statements and strategies, congratulations. Great work.

But how many of you have taken those mission statements out of the drawers since the slow return to hybrid work? Based on what I’m seeing and reading, not many of you.

Without this intentional focus on values and vision, we will never get our momentum back. The finger-pointing will continue. Disengagement and dissatisfaction will bubble up under the surface.

It’s time for leaders to do the right thing. Invest in engaging employees at all levels in critical conversations.

This is a courageous process. And if we commit to it, it creates pure magic. It's about creating sustainable change in a new environment. And, it's the most compassionate act of leadership we can commit to in moving cultures forward.

If you are looking for a place to ignite this conversation, I would love to chat.

At the Think Good Company, we are committed to cultivating and curating courageous and compassionate people and workplaces.
